Julissa Bermudez Introduces república skin
Los Angeles, CA (9/9/21) - Julissa Bermudez introduces república skin, a luxurious, affordable all-natural skincare brand inspired by the rich heritage and culture of the Dominican Republic. A veteran television host with a multi-hyphenate career, the Dominican American actress, known for being the first Latina to co-host BET’s 106 & Park and star in the pop culture favorite docu-series Empire Girls; has also made her mark in the beauty world as the original “influencer” for her support of diversity in the beauty space and sharing secrets on maintaining her incredible skin.
Founded by the principle that clean body care can be sensual, inclusive, and derived purely from the earth, república skin tells the story of Julissa’s roots by preserving and celebrating clean beauty. With ingredients found naturally in the Dominican Republic, the first product from the brand is a sugar body polish that’s been two years in the making. Comprised of a custom formulation of ingredients such as squalane sourced from sugarcane , coconut oil, and moringa oil, the entrepreneur worked tirelessly with a lab in California to cultivate the perfect body polish that will leave consumers with an invigorating, radiant glow.
Constantly on the go, Julissa noticed that her skin wasn’t maintaining the hydrated, supple glow she had when visiting the Dominican Republic. Growing up in Queens, NY, winters were harsh, and her skin became dry, dull, and flaky, and after trying a myriad of products, nothing really helped. She continued to seek a product that incorporated all the elements she was looking for; vegan, cruelty-free, efficacious yet sustainably packaged. When all fell short, Julissa decided it was finally time to create something of her own.
“I took a chance and really came to a crossroads when I decided to pursue a passion project that I have always dreamt about, instead of buying my dream car/ dream home. It’s exhilarating to take a leap of faith to invest in what I hope will be part of my legacy and create a product that reminds me so much of my birthplace. Skincare is body care, and this is very personal to me. república skin is more than just a brand; it’s an extension of who I am, and after working on this for so long, I am excited to finally introduce it to the world.” - Julissa Bermudez.
A labor of love, the actress and tv host worked on the formulation of república skin while simultaneously filming alongside a star-studded cast led by Al Pacino in the Amazon Original TV Series “Hunters” and co-hosting “Central Ave”; a nationally syndicated pop-culture show executive produced by Will Packer. Through researching and developing, Julissa wanted to create a product that would transport users to the Caribbean in the comfort of their shower and targeted an area that most people forget about - the body.
Hand’s on with everything she does; Julissa tapped into her expertise as a beauty influencer. Often given a first-hand look at a multitude of beauty products, Bermudez was able to experiment and test out what worked best. Through years of sharing her journey, the entrepreneur cultivated a following of fans and friends who look to her as an authentic, authoritative voice in beauty while maintaining her commitment to being transparent and genuine in her endeavors.
Born in the Dominican Republic and made in the USA, all ingredients are naturally sourced and packed in California. Working with a team of Latinx creatives, the campaign video for the brand was shot in Santo Domingo under the direction of Jessy Terrero, the eponymous Dominican music video director for creatives in the music industry such as Jennifer Lopez and Thalia. Available online at republicaskin.com, the sugar body polish is priced at $42 and comes in a 16.9 oz BPA Free Recycled jar with a bamboo lid and bamboo scoop. república skin is Fragrance-free, cruelty-free, and 100% all-natural.
